Ranking Rumors

From Team XBox [AAA]:

Some research done by syniper (duff) on the seemingly random ranking system:
Ranking Rumors:

you need about 4 wins for each loss to move up

on average wins = 20 points, on average losses = -70 points

The more people playing in a game has an effect on the points earned/loss

The grades of each player playing in a game has an effect on the points earned/loss

So just in case this is right (which it very well could be since our computer players always suck) apply all your points including goalie points just in case.

Lock it down
STAY BETWEEN YOUR GOALIE AND THE PUCK.
Don't step up on a man 1-on-1, you will get burned
Keep skating back, but do so slowly, let the puck carrier come to you
Then either Tap R1 to poke the puck loose, or stick lift and steal it away

Clear the net
Obviously the goalie will be more than likely screened if you are standing in his way of the puck
but it's a small rink and you will see better results than if you allow a breakaway

Break outs
If a lane is clear, pass up to a wing, but don't force it! The center is rarely ever open
Having a pass rating over 80 helps us get out of our zone faster without creating turnovers
If its not clear, take the puck behind our own net, wait for wings to get in position then proceed, or pass to your defensive partner. Nothing wrong with taking your time and moving back before going forward

Defense is boring
If your team gives up 2 goals or less, consider it a successful game
It isn't your responsibility to go down deep and create scoring chances, just a blue line slapper here and there
Only worry about limiting goals scored against
It's more boring than left wing but it's a huge part of winning

Recruiting

I am thinking about posting on the EASHL recruiting some good players. I am gonna start making cuts of the people who I never see online. I am sure Dpo Per and Kmm wouldn't mind. It seems to be the same people over and over again. I feel if we can get some good scores and position players we can make a run. I am not saying we need them but I think it could help. We seem to make a run then piss it away. More active players means more games. Screw Team A and them bringing people up. In my mind we are our own team.

Any ideas on people who we should cut leave a comment.

Positions

So yesterday we were Division 2 Rank 47th then we went to Divsion 3 Rank 80th and now we are Division 3 Rank 14th.

We can't drop that many places especially when we were so close to over taking Team A. I have noticed that in some of these games we are not playing our positions at all. Its not so much the defense but the wingers and center (me).

- If the wingers are out of position then everyone else becomes out of position. This frustrates me a whole lot and I am sure it frustrates all of you as well......

- When in defense the wingers need to stay up top and the center in the middle and the defense back towards the net. If someone is in that area already then move and find a new place. Teams have been passing the puck around us like its nothing. This can't happen if we wanna win. THe 1-timer works more often then not.

-On offense we are crowding to much in front of the net. We block alot of our shots. If someone is in front move to the boards or the slot. We also need to pass back to the point more. It sets up the offense and moves the defense outta positition. Other teams do it to us so why dont we do it back?

If anyone has any tips or ideas for helipng us on defense and offense please post them.
